Treatment of diabetes
Used to control blood sugar.

30 pills

Active ingredient:
  • Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg

Purposes of taking Glucomin (Metformin hydrochloride)

Metformin hydrochloride is used to treat patients with type II diabetes (called "non-insulin-dependent diabetes") when exercises and diet are not sufficient to control blood glucose levels. In particular, this drug is used by patients with obesity. Mmetformin hydrochloride may be administered for adults alone or along with other medications to treat diabetes (medications taken orally or with insulin).

10-years and older children, as well as adolescents, can take metformin hydrochloride alone or together with insulin.

You can not take metformin hydrochloride:

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitivity) to metformin hydrochloride or to any of the other components of this drug;
  • If you have kidney or liver problems;
  • If you have uncontrolled diabetes, severe hyperglycemia or ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis is a condition in which substances called "ketone bodies" accumulate in the blood. Symptoms include stomach pain, deep and rapid breathing, drowsiness, or unusual fruity breath odor;
  • If you have lost excessive amounts of fluid (dehydration), for example, due to prolonged or severe diarrhea, or if you have been vomiting several times in a row. Dehydration can cause kidney problems, which can cause you to develop lactic acidosis (see below, "Particular attention to metformin hydrochloride");
  • If you have a serious infection, for example, an infection that affects the lungs or the bronchial system or the kidneys. Severe infections can lead to problems with the kidneys, which can cause you to develop dairy acidosis (see below, "Particular attention to metformin hydrochloride");
  • If you are undergoing treatment of heart failure or you recently had a heart attack, serious blood circulation problems or breathing difficulties. This can lead to a shortage of oxygen in the tissues, which may be the cause of your dairy acidosis (see below, "Particular attention to metformin hydrochloride");
  • If you abuse alcoholic beverages;
  • In the period of breast-feeding.
Pregnancy and lactation:

During pregnancy, you need insulin to treat you for diabetes. Tell your doctor if you think you can or plan to become pregnant so that he can adjust your treatment regimen. Do not take this medication if you are breast-feeding, or if you are planning to breast-feed.

Potential side effects

Digestive problems, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, colic and loss of appetite. These side effects most often occur at the start of metformin hydrochloride. To alleviate the above symptoms, it is recommended to distribute the doses of the drug throughout the day, take tablets with food, or immediately after meals. If symptoms continue, stop taking metformin hydrochloride and consult your doctor.
