Bi-mix is administered as a self-injection in the penis, usually considered to belong to a powerful class of known anti-erectile dysfunction pharmacologic agents. The active ingredients in Bi-mix, which consist of Papaverine and Phentolamine, are individually indicated for a wide array of different medical conditions. However, using them in a single product to address erectile dysfunction has become more and more common in sexual medical practice. Thanks to these advances, Bi-mix is now considered the go-to treatment when a patient hasn’t shown any type of positive response to the traditional PDE5 inhibitors. Bi-mix is used to treat erectile dysfunction in males. Bi-mix contains two drugs, or active ingredients, from complimentary pharmacological classes which are designed to act in concert, combined into a single sterile injection.
This medication should not be used in patients with any of the following: known allergy or hypersensitivity to any component of this drug; any condition that predisposes you to suffering from priapism, which is a painful erection that lasts more than 4 hours; anatomical deformation of the penis or having any type of penile implant; doctor’s orders to avoid sexual activity, or that it’s inadvisable or contraindicated; sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma or leukemia.
The most commonly reported side effects while using Bi-mix is mild to moderate pain during injection; small amount of bleeding at the injection site; painful sensation with erection. If you have an erection that lasts more than 2 hours, you can take 2 - 4 pseudoephedrine 30 mg by mouth once and apply an ice pack. If your erection still does not resolve within the next hour, seek professional medical help immediately. Erections that last more than 6 hours can cause serious damage to penile tissue.
